Adult Services Rivendell's Adult Program provides services for general psychiatric illnesses as well as dual diagnosis (mental illness with chemical dependency). Specialized treatment services, serving people 18 or older, are provided as an integrated part of our general adult programming. Hospital services include an acute inpatient psychiatric program designed for adults who are at risk of harm to themselves or others, require crisis intervention, stabilization or detoxification, and are unable to function in a less restrictive setting. The adult treatment program is an 18-bed unit, operating 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Our integrated program is designed to effectively treat a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral issues including mood (depression and bipolar) disorders, anxiety (posttraumatic stress and panic) disorders, disorders caused by chemical imbalance, and others such as obsessive-compulsive and adjustment disorders. Individualized treatment plans are developed based on each patient's case history and date gathered from in-depth evaluations and assessments conducted during the initial assessment process. Rivendell's Adult Program uses individual, group and family psychotherapy, cognitive/behavioral, psycho-educational, recreation activities, and pharmacology. Specialty groups and consultations are also added to the treatment plan, as necessary, to address issues such as eating disorders, compulsive behaviors, trauma, codependency, depression, and anxiety disorders. Staff members from a number of disciplines cooperate to develop and work toward the success of this individualized treatment plan for each patient. Inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient services utilize this multidisciplinary team model. Referral sources are kept informed of the patient's progress from admission through discharge - because the continuity of care is critical to treatment success. After-care services are coordinated with the referring professional. In the absence of a professional contact, every effort is made to obtain services in the community to which the patient will be returning. The facility includes a gymnasium, swimming pool, group areas, and educational classrooms. Our semi-private bedrooms are equipped with a private bathroom and modest furnishings. Patient safety is a priority, and our staff is trained to follow specific procedures to ensure a safe environment for all patients.
